1. How I Dealt with Body Odor Naturally in 2025: Understanding the Real Cause

Before I could find a solution, I needed to understand the true reason I smelled. Like most guys, I thought body odor came simply from sweating too much. So I would get really strong deodorants – I even started using “48-hour” sprays, and it still was not working in the long-term.

Believe it or not, I even learned that sweat is odorless. It is the bacteria on our skin that is breaking down the sweat which creates that bad smell, especially in regions that are warm and damp like our armpits, feet and groin. When we don’t wash and/or we have bad bacteria on our skin, we are amplifying that body odor.

Here is what nobody will tell you: body odor is often a combination of three things:

Poor gut health

Poor hygiene habits

Overload of synthetic chemicals (from soaps and deodorants)

After I understood this, it became apparent that I was not going to be able to stop the sweat, so I would just have to fix it at the source!

2. I Switched to Natural, Bacteria-Killing Soap

This was the first major change I made in dealing with body odor naturally in 2025.

Most soaps sold today are full of artificial fragrances and sulfates. —one of the biggest grooming mistakes I used to make until I learned better.

These fragrances may cover up the smell, but they do not kill the bacteria that cause the smell. And worse, most soaps strip the natural oils from the skin, making your body overproduce sweat to make up for the lack of oil.

I stopped using commercial soap and started using natural, bacteria-killing soap with ingredients such as:

Tea tree oil – kills bacteria and fungus

Charcoal – draws out dirt and toxins

Neem and eucalyptus – cleanse deeply while being gentle to skin

Natural soap does way more than clean; it feels fresh. After one week of using it, the odor started to lessen even without deodorant. And my skin felt smoother as well.

Pro tip:

You want to gently and thoroughly scrub your armpits and groin. Don’t just rinse yourself; you want to clean yourself.

3. How I Dealt with Body Odor Naturally in 2025 by Fixing My Diet

This was the most significant determinant.

Who talks about how you eat and what you eat can affect your smell? Gut health is connected to skin, sweat, and smell. This internal health link also plays a major role in issues like hair loss, as I shared in this post on men’s hair care

When your body is toxic, it tries to get rid of toxins by pushing them out through the skin (which leads to a nasty smell, no matter how often you take a shower).

I cleaned my diet up like this :

Eliminated processed foods (and junk food, particularly sugary snacks and sodas)

Increased greens ((spinach, kale, cucumber)

Drank lemon water every day to alkalize my body

Added probiotics (like plain yogurt or fermented foods to fix gut bacteria)

It was literally two weeks later, I woke up and my odor was gone. I could even have had a sweaty night. That was when I knew I was healing on the inside.

Bonus tip:

If you are smelling funky too, lay off the red meat and dairy…both of those foods can make some people smell worse.

4. I Stopped Using Commercial Deodorants (And Made My Own)

I came across so many surprising things during my endeavor:  the majority of commercial deodorants clog your pores and trap bacteria. Instead of addressing the situation, they close off your skin to breathe. Antiperspirants? They literally stop you from sweating, which is exactly what your body needs to do to detox.

So, I did something crazy: I stopped using deodorant altogether— for a week.

Sure, I smelled terrible at first—but, more importantly, it allowed my skin to detox. Then, I used other natural substitutes like:

Apple cider vinegar spray (watered down): balances pH and kills bacteria that cause bad odor.

For more insights on natural remedies, the Cleveland Clinic provides a comprehensive guide on natural ways to eliminate body odor, including the use of apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and green tea.

Baking soda + coconut oil paste: has worked as a natural deodorant for many men.

Crystal salt deodorants: mineral based deodorants that neutralize odor and last a long-time.

After about 10 days of using natural alternatives, I began to experience less sweat and almost no smell—even during exercise!

I now only use deodorants when I actually need to—and my body has been able to handle it naturally!

5. I Started Showering Smarter (Not Just More)

5. I Started Showering Smarter (Not Just More)

Yes, I said smarter—not just more.

Previously, I showered about 2–3 times a day in an effort to eradicate my odor. But, I wasn’t showering the correct way.

Here’s what I changed:

Dry brushed before showers (removes dead skin, improves circulation)

Used lukewarm water instead (hot water dries skin, causing more sweat)

Was mindful of high bacteria area: armpits, groin, feet and behind ears

Pat dried completely—moist areas cultivate bacteria quickly

I also started changing my clothes twice a day, mostly my undergarments, because clean skin + dirty clothes = wasted efforts.

Showering smart made a big impact in ensuring I was odor free for longer—even on summer days.

How I Dealt with Body Odor Naturally in 2025: Why Natural Methods Last Longer

One thing I discovered in figuring out how I dealt with body odor naturally in 2025 is that natural solutions last longer. Commercial products last a couple of hours and provide instant gratification but also start a pattern of dependence. As soon as you stop, you use more, sweat more, and smell worse.

Natural solutions allow your body to balance itself. Once I stopped using synthetic chemicals on my skin, I allowed it to breathe again. I sweated less, smelled less, and I even had money left over.

Another important revelation? I became conscious of the choice of clothing fabric. Another important revelation? I became conscious of the choice of clothing fabric. But grooming goes beyond clothes—how I looked and smelled also improved when I started maintaining my beard properly. I followed a beard care routine that actually works, and it helped me stay fresher and more confident every day.

I started wearing fabrics that could breathe. I prioritized fabrics like cotton and bamboo, since they allowed the sweat to evaporate instead of trapping it. Less bacteria meant less smell. I realized that wearing tight use of synthetic shirts was lessening my odor.

And lastly, I tried to control my stress levels. Believe it or not, but stress makes you sweat more. It is even worse in the armpits. I started doing a little journaling, walking, and even 10 minutes of breathing exercises just to help settle my nervous system down. Less stress = less sweat = less odour.

All of these additional steps made my natural approach bulletproof.

Conclusion

Dealing with my body odor naturally, in 2025, was not easy—but it worked. There were no more nasty sprays or covering up. I now feel fresh, confident, and clean without the use of chemicals or high-priced products.

To summarize, the 5 steps that worked for me:

1. Knowing the root cause of your body odor

2. Switching over to a natural soap

3. Healing my gut through food

4. Getting rid of commercial deodorants

5. Showering smarter, and not more

If you’re struggling with odor right now, don’t give up. You won’t have to live with it. Start small, be consistent, and give your body time to heal.
